DIY Deodorant

Why DIY Deodorant? Well… I got sick of all the plastic that comes with a store bought deodorant and thought I would try making my own.

I googled a simple recipe on a New Zealand site that didn’t have weird ingredients which are hard to purchase in New Zealand and added them to the shopping list.

All the deodorant required was

  • 1/4 cup of cornflour
  • 1/4 cup of baking soda
  • 10 drops of essential oil (tea tree oil was suggested for its disinfectant properties but I’m allergic to that on my skin so I’m trying some rose oil)
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil

mix it all together and you get the below:

Now I just have to try it and see if it works! I am sincerely hoping that I am not allergic to any of the contents on my skin 🙂

If it does work I will try the coconut oil exfoliating scrub that a friend suggested which is a mix of coconut oil and sugar :).
